Windrush NHS Stories Launch at Manchester Poetry Library
In the 75th anniversary year of both the NHS and the arrival in the UK of the ship HMT Empire Windrush, the ‘Untold Stories of the NHS’ programme, funded by the Arts and Humanities Research Council and led by Manchester Metropolitan University in partnership with Manchester UNESCO City of Literature, highlights the contribution of workers from the Windrush generation, and the communities they founded, to the NHS story in Manchester.
Following a workshop programme devised by Community Champion Jackie Bailey and delivered by award-winning writers including Keisha Thompson, Shirley May and Micah Yongo, the participants of the programme will take to the stage to share their stories.
Join Malika Booker (poet, playwright, and Poetry Lecturer at Manchester Metropolitan University) and our Untold Stories writers for an evening of poetry, storytelling, memoir and music.
