Takk University Green is the Oxford Road Corridor outpost of the wildly popular Northern Quarter coffee shop Takk. This is artisanal coffee: no microwaved brown water here! Instead, real coffee selected from the best beans the world has to offer, prepared with a wonderful choice of syrups and sprinkles. And be sure to talk to the friendly staff about the coffees on offer – there’s always a new bean.
The food is brunch done properly. Expect hearty sourdough bread with poached or scrambled eggs, a bespoke salad or one of a choice of amazing cakes prepared fresh every day in-store to exacting specifications. The emphasis is on sharp, straightforward flavours, making this an excellent choice for the morning after the night before.
TAKK University Green is set out in the best minimalist Scandinavian style, making for a clean, simple space that’s great to relax in and get away from the world for a while. Nearby, discerning café patrons will find the fascinating Manchester Museum (currently closed for redevelopment until October 2022) and three of the main university campuses, Manchester University, Manchester Metropolitan University and the Royal Northern College of Music, as well as sports grounds, parks, and other bars and cafés.
