Exhibition, located in the former Museum of Natural History near the Midland Hotel is a unique venture in Manchester’s food and drink scene: a high-end venue full of polished wood and glass, for those who appreciate serious cuisine. Exhibition showcases three curated kitchens, each offering something exquisitely different.
Osma Scandinavian Kitchen specialises in seafood, such as the St Austell Mussels in white wine and the crab tostada, with specially selected brown crab and yuzu. Osma, a two-expert team who take their name from Oslo and Manchester, are already listed in the Michelin guide – this is a kitchen not to be missed.
Baratxuri, meanwhile, have won numerous awards thanks to their uniquely Basque ethos: keep it simple and cook it with fire. Here’s where to go to get a taste of Bilbao in central Manchester. Cooked on a traditional Rescoldo wood-fired grill, mains include their famous Txuleton steaks as well as whole fish, such as grilled sea bream with a confit of new potatoes and piperade.
Jaan Persian Bread specialises in Iranian flatbread creations and is the brainchild of Max Yorke and Julian Pizer, the duo behind Michelin-recommended Manchester restaurant Another Hand. Jaan offers delicious wood-baked flatbreads topped with the likes of ras el hanout lamb and labneh and Black Garlic Butter. A sort of high-end kebab, this is next-level comfort food.
To round things off, there’s an expertly-curated bar menu featuring a lovingly compiled list of cocktails ranging from aperitifs to shorts and late-night drinks. Exhibition is a wonderful place to unwind with some of the best food in the north gathered in one place, or to enjoy the best of Manchester’s nighttime with a late-night drinks table.
