Christie’s Bistro
University of Manchester, Oxford Rd
Manchester
M13 9PL

Ever wondered what it’s like inside the magisterial Victorian Gothic buildings on The University of Manchester’s stunning campus? Puzzle no more, now’s your chance to find out without having to go to all the trouble of actually going to university. Take the semi-secret elevator up to Christie’s Bistro, and discover a hidden haven of sophisticated dining.
Under a beautiful fluted ceiling held up by columns, in a room of polished dark wood furniture full of light from the tall solarium windows, the Christie’s team serve up a well-crafted menu of top-quality cafe fare. Above those toweringly impressive bookshelves, the portraits of past chancellors gaze down on the diners with approval and, perhaps, a hint of jealousy.
Among the lighter options you’ll find dishes such as the bright and breezy Pear, Roquefort, and Walnut Salad, while bread-and-dip options include a special hummus made fresh on site every day, served with a warm mixed herb flatbread. You’ll find a huge number of sandwiches – don’t miss out on their wonderful smoked salmon bagel. Of course, there’s a full range of teas and coffees, but if desserts are your thing, we highly recommend the hearty plate of organic red berry crumble.
Whether you’re looking for a graduation lunch, or a special high-end meal to celebrate a work success, Christie’s Bistro is a wonderfully grand option.
