Word Central at Manchester Central Library

Word Central

Word Central is a free night of Open Mic Poetry and Spoken Word hosted by Tony Curry. This month, Flapjack Press and Manchester Libraries present a special guest appearance by Lucy Power.

Power is a poet, writer, artist and musician who spent her childhood in Todmorden before moving to Manchester. Her poems involve a mixture of writing styles: using contemporary urban characters and situations, she seeks to make the hidden visible, elevate the every day, and highlight the overlooked. Her work has recently appeared in The People’s Republic of Mancunia (Flapjack Press, 2020) and will also feature in the anthology Indivisible (Commonword, 2021).

You can book your open mic slot via mail@flapjackpress.co.uk. Open mic slots are 3 minutes per performer. Performance slots are allocated on a ‘first come first served’ basis from the stated booking day. If they are already filled you will be offered a space on the reserve list.
