WHO SHOT SCOTT

WHO SHOT SCOTT is the alternative hip hop project of Iraqi-born, New Zealand–raised artist and producer Zee (Zaidoon Nasir). Built around experimental production techniques and direct, unguarded lyricism, the project marks a clear shift from his earlier work as one half of the duo Times x Two.

Operating as a solo artist, Zee has developed a sound that blends weighty synths, tribal-influenced percussion and unconventional song structures. His writing balances personal reflection with wit and understated humour, often offsetting heavier themes with moments of levity. This approach is central to the identity of WHO SHOT SCOTT, where vulnerability and experimentation sit side by side.

The project’s music reflects a deliberate move away from formula, prioritising instinct and creative autonomy over genre expectations. Tracks are shaped by an emphasis on texture and atmosphere as much as rhythm, creating a distinctive alternative hip hop sound that draws from multiple influences without settling into a single style.

WHO SHOT SCOTT represents Zee stepping fully into his own voice, focusing on authenticity in both production and performance. The result is a body of work that foregrounds personal truth and artistic control, positioning the project within a broader wave of contemporary artists reshaping the boundaries of hip hop.
