In 1945 Chorlton on Medlock Town Hall (1830-1970) was the chosen venue for the Pan African Congress, held to advance the liberation of African countries from colonial rule. Now that this classical building is part of Manchester Metropolitan University, we honour the freedom fighters who attended with a film featuring original and existing work read by family members of the Manchester-based delegates. Curated by internationally recognised poet SuAndi of the National Black Arts Alliance, developed in collaboration with Manchester Poetry Library. Witness a fusion of poetry, dance and oral history.
