Women@Manchester are excited to announce the annual International Women’s Day celebration at The University of Manchester!

This in-person celebration will take place on the Tuesday, 4 March 2025, between 1pm – 3pm, in Blended Theatre 1 (GA.056), Nancy Rothwell Building. Refreshment will be provided. They would love to see you all in person, but know that not everybody may be able to attend, so this event will also be livestreamed (the link will be sent to you following sign-up).

The theme for this year’s event is ‘Accelerate Action’, and we will also acknowledge the UN’s theme ‘For ALL women and girls: rights, Equality, Empowerment’. There will be a panel of speakers from across the University, including Professor Duncan Ivison (President and Vice-Chancellor), Sarah Fox (University EDI director), Professor Rachel Cowen (University Lead for Equality Diversity and Inclusion: Gender and Sexual Orientation), Professor Jackie Carter (University EDI Academic Lead for Disability), Professor Dawn Edge (University Academic Lead for Equality, Diversity and Inclusion) and Dr. Reem Swidah (winner of L’Oréal UNESCO Award for Women in Science), Aisha Akram (Student Union officer), and Molly Lacey (W@M representative). BSL interpreters will be available for the speeches.

The event will be organised by the Women@Manchester Network Committee and will be chaired by our Network Co-Chairs; Dr Lin Ma and Emma Shiels. Refreshments will be served during the networking period.

This celebration is open to all staff members and students of all genders at the University of Manchester.

Funding support from the University EDIA Team and the FSE Social Responsibility Team is greatly acknowledged.
