Thomas D. Lee In Conversation at Blackwell's Manchester

Manchester welcomes the launch of Thomas D. Lee’s second novel The Knight Watch, a sharp and imaginative reworking of Arthurian legend set against the backdrop of the Second World War.

In this inventive blend of myth and history, the Knights of the Round Table continue their ancient oath to protect the realm—though not always in harmony. Old rivalries persist, with Kay and Lancelot long estranged, while tensions within the group threaten their ability to work together. As Britain faces war, Isolde—long defined by her legendary tragic romance—seeks independence and a new identity beyond myth. But when she uncovers a threat involving old enemies aligned with the Nazis, she is drawn back into conflict and forced to consider reuniting the fractured knights.

Thomas D. Lee, whose debut novel Perilous Times was a Sunday Times bestseller, is a novelist and researcher whose work explores masculinity, nationalism and queer theory through historical and fantasy fiction, with a particular focus on Arthurian retellings.

Doors open at 6.30pm, with the event beginning at 6.45pm. Tickets are £5, with free entry available via the Book & Ticket option or with purchase of the book in advance.
