Leeds indie band The Sunshine Underground have announced an intimate warm-up show at Gorilla in Manchester this July, ahead of their major outdoor performance at Leeds’ historic Kirkstall Abbey.
The reunited original line-up will perform their acclaimed 2006 debut album Raise The Alarm in full, alongside highlights from across their back catalogue. Marking the 20th anniversary of the record, the show will see the cult favourites return to the stage for the first time in a decade for a special, one-off performance celebrating a defining moment in noughties indie music.
Emerging from the influential West Yorkshire scene that also produced acts such as Kaiser Chiefs, The Cribs and The Pigeon Detectives, The Sunshine Underground became a standout force within the so-called “New Yorkshire” movement. Known for their energetic live shows and distinctive fusion of dance and rock influences, the band built a reputation as one of the most exciting live acts of their era.
This exclusive Manchester date offers fans a rare chance to see the band return in an intimate setting before their larger anniversary celebrations in Leeds.
