Founded by award-winning poet and playwright Inua Ellams (The Barbershop Chronicles, The Actual, Doctor Who), The Rhythm And Poetry / Prose Party is a no-fuss night of live literature and moving music. The format is simple: ten writers each share a piece of work, followed by two songs selected by the writer and played by the DJ in response to the text.
To mark Africa Day, this special edition invites both audiences and writers to imagine and reimagine the complex histories and layered narratives behind artefacts in Manchester Museum’s collection.
Inua Ellams will be joined by DJ Tone on the decks and a brilliant line-up of writers and performers from communities of origin. The evening promises powerful literature, evocative music, and a truly memorable night.
