Psych-punk duo The Lovely Eggs bring their fearless live show to Manchester Academy, continuing a two-decade run of defying genre, expectation, and music industry convention.
Made up of married couple Holly Ross and David Blackwell, the Lancaster-based pair are fiercely DIY — writing, recording, producing, and releasing their music on their own label while earning critical acclaim, radio support from the BBC, and even collaborations with the likes of Iggy Pop and Gruff Rhys.
“Manchester is like a second home to us,” says Ross. “It’s where we cut our teeth – and the crowds have always brought the party.”
Joining the celebrations is comedy legend Frank Skinner – the man behind Three Lions and one of the most recognisable voices in British comedy.
Known for their gloriously messy, loud, and life-affirming gigs, The Lovely Eggs mix distorted garage rock, surreal humour, and a punk spirit that refuses to compromise. Their latest work, co-produced by Dave Fridmann (The Flaming Lips, MGMT), builds on the success of 2020’s I Am Moron with more sprawling psychedelia, tightly wound riffs, and sharp-tongued lyrics about life, love, and late capitalism.
Equal parts noise and joy, chaos and charm, this is a band that lives their art, from handmade merch and custom scratchcards to their own variety show EGGS TV, featuring guests like Stewart Lee and Ian MacKaye. Expect a sweaty, funny, and raucous night with two of the UK’s most committed outsiders.
