The Ahmed Iqbal Ullah RACE Centre and Education Trust commemorates the 40th anniversary of Ahmed Iqbal Ullah’s death, reflecting on the enduring strength of community-led anti-racism.
The event will reflect on the events of 1986 and examine how Ahmed’s family, local communities and anti-racist organisations responded to racism, anti-migrant hate and Islamophobia, both then and now.
A panel discussion will bring together individuals involved in the response to Ahmed’s murder in 1986 and those currently working with Global Majority communities, particularly young people. The discussion will be chaired by Selina Ullah, Ahmed’s sister and Trustee.
The programme will also showcase local community-led activism and platform Global Majority groups working in youth and education.
As the event focuses on a racist murder, it may include upsetting and traumatic themes.
