Sunny Afternoon

Sunny Afternoon, the Olivier Award-winning musical about The Kinks, returns to the stage following a successful run in the West End and a UK and Ireland tour.

This acclaimed production explores the early rise of one of Britain’s most influential bands, known for their raw sound and sharp social commentary.

Set in the turbulent 1960s, the musical charts the journey of frontman Ray Davies and his bandmates through the highs and lows of fame, industry struggles, and personal conflicts. Against the backdrop of a changing Britain, Sunny Afternoon tells a story of artistic integrity and identity with humour, energy and depth.

With a book by Joe Penhall and direction by Edward Hall, the production features music and lyrics by Ray Davies, performed live on stage. The show includes a catalogue of iconic hits such as You Really Got Me, Lola, Waterloo Sunset and All Day and All of the Night.

More than a jukebox musical, Sunny Afternoon delves into the cost of success and the complexity of creative life, while celebrating a band that left an indelible mark on British music history.
