Since its inception in 2019, the “Eurovision for the Spoken Word” has celebrated cultural participation and local talent, providing a platform to showcase the spoken word artistry of UNESCO Cities of Literature on an international stage.

After Manchester poet Esther Koch’s triumph last year, the city takes centre stage as the host for the 2024 competition. Representing Manchester this year is Griot Gabriel, the winner of the local heats, who will compete against poets from 14 UNESCO Cities of Literature.

The event promises an unforgettable evening of live and live-streamed performances, entertaining judging videos from sister cities around the world, and an impressive showcase of spoken word talent.

Taking place at Manchester Poetry Library from 7–9 PM, Slamovision will be hosted by Reece Williams and feature special guest performances by Manchester’s Multilingual City Poets.

Don’t miss this celebration of poetic brilliance and global creativity, brought to you by Manchester City of Literature.

Please note that the event will also be live streamed to our YouTube channel and you do not need to book a ticket to access this, tickets are only required for the in-person event in Manchester.
