New York quartet SKORTS bring their energetic blend of indie rock and DIY spirit to Big Hands this July.
Formed after a chance series of encounters across New York City, the band quickly built a reputation through relentless gigging and a live show that has become central to their growing following. Since their debut performance—memorably marked by an exploding amplifier—SKORTS have become fixtures on the city’s independent music scene, earning recognition from local tastemakers and radio stations while steadily expanding their audience beyond New York.
Their debut album, Incompletement, captures the energy that first drew attention to the band. Recorded live across a series of Brooklyn rehearsal spaces, the record balances big, hook-filled guitar songs with a DIY sensibility, while also revealing a more reflective side to their songwriting.
Led by vocalist and guitarist Alli Walls alongside Char Smith, Emma Welch and Max Berdik, SKORTS combine driving rhythms, sharp guitar work and an infectious sense of momentum. Their songs feel built for packed rooms and shared experiences, shaped as much by years on stage as by time spent in the studio.
Arriving at Big Hands on the back of a growing reputation in the US underground scene, SKORTS offer a chance to catch a band whose ascent shows little sign of slowing.
