Sara Ahmed visits the Whitworth to explore the power and solace of listening and complaining in an unjust world, building on the success of The Feminist Killjoy Handbook.
Through testimonies from diverse experiences, Ahmed reveals how institutions exercise power, how complaints illuminate systemic dynamics, and how collective action can create social bonds.
She will be joined by Dr (Sen) Raj, Reader in Human Rights Law at Manchester Law School, Manchester Metropolitan University, for a discussion titled Is Not a Lonely Utterance: The Art and Activism of Complaining. Copies of Ahmed’s latest book will be available for purchase and signing at the event.
