Charles Ignatius Sancho was born on a slave ship on the Atlantic in 1729, yet he became a writer, composer and the first black person to vote in the UK.

This is the extraordinary story of an unlikely hero, is brought to life by actor and author Paterson Joseph (WonkaTimeless), who performs an enthralling account of one man’s remarkable life. Part-biography and part-dramatised readings from Paterson’s acclaimed novel The Secret Diaries of Charles Ignatius Sancho, Sancho & Me is an unmissable evening of storytelling.

Music for the show is arranged and led by Ben Park, who will join Paterson on stage. The show will open with the premiere of an opera by Streetwise Opera, and will also feature a Q&A with Paterson, performances by RNCM Opera students, foyer workshops, exhibitions and an after-show performance by Lavender Rodriguez.
