The Manchester launch of Rob Parker’s The Troubled Deep, a gripping new crime novel, introduces readers to a deep-sea diver uncovering secrets behind a long-buried cold case. Parker will be in conversation with M. W. Craven, author of the bestselling Washington Poe series.

Doors open at 6:30 pm, with the event starting at 6:45 pm.

Tickets cost £4, but admission is free with the purchase of the book.

About the book:

For years, nobody knew what happened to the Brindleys. One summer, the family—flashy, loud, and beautiful—vanished into the East Anglian night. A mother, father, and two children disappeared without a trace.

Rumors swirled. Some believed their car had veered off the road, leaving the family silently buried in the marshes. Others claimed they simply moved on. For three decades, the case remained as cold as the waterways of the Norfolk Broads.

Then, Cam Killick found their car.

A former marine and ex-SBS officer, Killick struggles with PTSD, making civilian life unbearable. His solace is found underwater, where the muffled world brings peace. As a cold case diver, his work is to uncover the submerged and drowned, offering closure by laying their stories to rest.

But when Killick opens the Brindleys’ car, he finds it empty—no bodies, only questions. Soon, he learns that some secrets are better left undisturbed.

About the author:

Rob Parker is the author of Far From the Tree, a No. 1 bestselling thriller for Audible Original, and the first book in the Thirty Miles trilogy. He has written eight novels for independent publishers and hosts Crime Central Manchester, a monthly showcase of emerging crime writers, as well as the Blood Brothers podcast.

Parker lives in Warrington with his wife, three children, and dogs. His inspiration for The Troubled Deep came from years of holidays in the Norfolk Broads—thankfully without encountering a dead body.
