HOME’s Road to Edinburgh series offers audiences the chance to discover some of the most exciting new theatre heading to the Edinburgh Festival Fringe. Across four evenings, artists are given the opportunity to test and develop small-scale productions in front of a live audience, providing an early glimpse of work destined for one of the world’s largest arts festivals.
The programme showcases a diverse range of voices, styles and subjects. Audiences can experience This Is How I Got Arrested… after smuggling drugs across the border but never actually getting caught with any drugs, Azaelia Slade’s fast-paced one-woman dark comedy exploring class, truth and misadventure; GOSS, Sam Burkett’s improvised dance-comedy performance that transforms audience gossip into a unique live show; Paywall, Neysa Killeen’s sharp one-woman drama about ambition, journalism and moral compromise; and CAMPITALISM: Three Gays Try to Fix The Economy, BOY Theatre’s witty and irreverent exploration of finance, bureaucracy and life in the creative industries.
Together, the performances span comedy, drama, movement, storytelling and social commentary, offering a snapshot of the creativity and experimentation that define the Edinburgh Fringe. For audiences keen to discover new work and support emerging artists, Road to Edinburgh provides a rare opportunity to see productions at a pivotal stage in their development before they reach festival audiences.
