RNCM Big Band with Gareth Lockrane

Composer and flautist Gareth Lockrane is known for his explosive energy, vivid musical imagination and unmistakable command of the jazz flute.

His critically acclaimed big band fuses hard-grooving soul jazz with cinematic sweep and intricate, through-composed writing, all shaped by decades of experience across the UK jazz scene. Lockrane’s ensemble performs almost exclusively his own compositions and arrangements, making it a true reflection of his singular artistic voice.

Now, he brings that same dynamic spirit to the RNCM Big Band. Working side-by-side with our student musicians, Lockrane leads an evening of his music and arrangements. Expect sophisticated grooves and thrilling solos in a performance powered by one of British jazz’s most versatile and inventive voices.
