Creative Manchester invites the public to an informal Research Café exploring how art, research, and movement intersect to break down barriers.
The event features short presentations from Manchester Histories’ ‘This is Us’ project, celebrating overlooked stories and creating spaces for every voice; Grass Routes Movement CIC, a Greater Manchester community interest company using movement in urban and rural spaces to empower marginalised communities; and Voices of the Sands, a song-cycle exploring migration and sanctuary through the history, folklore, and ecology of a Kent sandbank.
Following the presentations, guests are encouraged to take part in a Q&A discussion with all speakers, engaging in conversations on creative practice, civic participation, justice, and equity. Food and refreshments will be provided.
The session will be chaired by Anke Bernau, Creative Manchester Theme Lead for ‘Creative and Civic Futures’, and speakers include Yussuf M’Rabty, Sajida Ismail, Rebecca Hurst, and Michael Betteridge.
