Quiet Light at The Abbey by Leah Blom

Quiet Light brings her intimate electronic folk project to The Abbey this autumn, performing songs from her acclaimed new album Blue Angel Sparkling Silver 2.

The recording alias of Texas-raised songwriter and producer Riya Mahesh, Quiet Light occupies a space between dream-pop, ambient electronics and confessional indie songwriting. Inspired by what she describes as music that feels like “soft light”, her work blends acoustic guitar, synthesisers, field recordings and diaristic lyrics into songs that feel both deeply personal and gently otherworldly.

Alongside pursuing a medical degree, Mahesh has steadily built a reputation as one of the most distinctive emerging voices in experimental pop, earning support from Spotify’s Fresh Finds Experimental playlist and sharing stages with artists including Hovvdy, Luna Li and Superfan.

Her latest album, Blue Angel Sparkling Silver 2, has been widely praised for bringing greater focus and clarity to the qualities that have defined her earlier releases. Blending atmospheric production, fragmented electronic textures and emotionally direct songwriting, the record moves fluidly between hushed reflection and restless momentum, exploring the complexities of relationships, memory and longing without sacrificing its dreamlike atmosphere.

With a capacity of just 100, The Abbey provides an ideal setting for Quiet Light’s immersive and finely detailed songs, offering a rare chance to experience one of indie music’s most intriguing new artists up close.
