Petite Noir is the architect of Noirwave – a musical and cultural movement that draws creative energy from punk aesthetics and the fragmented identity of today’s African diaspora. The Congolese artist was born in Belgium, raised in South Africa, and is now based between London and Paris.
Petite Noir’s debut album La vie est belle / Life Is Beautiful was released in 2015 and including several belting tracks including Chess and Down. Since then, the artist has performed with the likes of Vince Staples, Mac Demarco and Kendrick Lamar. It’s been a long wait for a follow up record and expectations are high. A couple of promising new tracks emerged last year followed by the excellent latest single, Blurry, which featires Sampa the Great.
If Blurry is anything to go by, this will be your last chance to see Petite Noir in a venue as intimate as YES.
