Prepare for a mesmerising journey through sound as Paraorchestra bring Henryk Górecki’s transcendent Symphony of Sorrowful Songs to the Royal Northern College of Music – a profound meditation on loss, hope and human connection.

Beautifully haunting and brimming with a spectrum of emotion, Górecki’s symphony embodies loss and grief, comfort and hope. Each of its three movements features a Polish lament that guides you on a captivating and cathartic adventure that offers solace, warmth and a sense of hope despite its underlying themes of grief.

Lose yourself in a heartbreaking rendition of this globally-acclaimed composition, alongside a performance of Schubert’s Death of the Maiden as realised by Mahler.

Paraorchestra are reinventing the orchestra for the 21st century. With an ensemble of disabled and non-disabled professional musicians, they blend artforms, genres, and technology to create large-scale music projects that challenge ideas of what an orchestra can and should be.
