The Northern Publishers’ Fair returns to Manchester Central Library, bringing together an exciting mix of independent presses, major imprints and literary organisations from across the North of England. Established in 2019 by Isabelle Kenyon, the fair continues its mission to challenge the London-centric publishing landscape by spotlighting the depth and diversity of northern talent.
Visitors can browse a wide-ranging selection of books spanning literary and genre fiction, poetry, essays, memoir, children’s literature and more. Alongside established names such as Manchester University Press and Harper North, the fair champions innovative independent publishers including Fly on the Wall Press, Dead Ink Books and Peepal Tree Press.
A highlight of this year’s event is the return of the popular “chatty table”, offering opportunities for informal conversations with industry professionals, including The Liverpool Literary Agency and Cultureword. Whether seeking advice on a writing career or insights into the publishing process, emerging writers can connect directly with those shaping the industry.
With space to read, relax and discover something new, the Northern Publishers’ Fair offers a welcoming environment for readers, writers, students and families alike. Showcasing the creativity and ambition of the region, it’s a celebration of northern publishing—and a chance to explore voices and stories beyond the mainstream.
