The Palace Theatre of Varieties opened on Whit Monday 1891 and cost its owners the then colossal sum of £40,500. In the late 1970’s the Palace Theatre underwent a major refurbishment and re-opened in 1981 with Andrew Lloyd Webber’s Jesus Christ Superstar and has since then retained its position as the premier provincial touring venue welcoming thousands of visitors a year to top touring shows.
Once again the Palace Theatre will be throwing open the doors for The Cultural Welcome for Musical Theatre Insights sessions! Sessions will last 90 minutes each and include a mini tour of the theatre, exploring Victorian History and modern day operations, followed by an introductory session to Musical Theatre led by one of the venue’s industry professional teaching artists. This session will include opportunities to build some skills in musical theatre, an insight into careers, and introduce you to Manchester’s oldest purpose built theatre still operating today!
Don’t miss your chance to visit the theatre and learn more what we’re all about.
Sessions will run at 10:30am – 12:30pm and 1:00 – 15:00pm and are suitable for beginners – the more experienced. Everyone is welcome.
Please be aware that parts of the building are only accessible by stairs. We suggest you wear comfy clothing and some trainers.
6 October, 10:30am - 12:30pm and 1:00 - 15:00pm
