Melanin Markets returns to Contact Theatre with a vibrant Summer Pop-Up, transforming all three floors of the venue into a celebration of culture, creativity, and community.
For one day only, this free and family-friendly event brings together Manchester’s Black-owned businesses, artists, and creators for a joyful end-of-summer gathering.
Visitors can explore a diverse range of traders in the Castle Marketplace, discover handcrafted goods, natural beauty products, artwork, and homegrown food and drink. Throughout the building, the event features music, fashion, creative workshops, and inspiring conversations. From DJs and visual artists to author meet-and-greets and grassroots organisations, the day offers opportunities to shop, connect, and celebrate Black excellence in all its forms.
Melanin Markets is more than a marketplace – it’s a space of joy, healing, resistance, and pride. This event also marks a powerful return to Contact Theatre, where Melanin Markets first began in 2021, and reflects its continued growth as a city-wide celebration of heritage and empowerment.
