LSD and the Search for God

San Francisco shoegaze group LSD and the Search for God return to Manchester this October, bringing their hazy guitar soundscapes back to the city following an appearance at Manchester Psych Fest in 2025.

Formed in 2005 by Andy Liszt and Chris Fifield, the band have built a cult following within shoegaze and psychedelic rock circles despite a relatively small catalogue. Their 2007 release, LSD and the Search for God, remains widely regarded as a seminal modern shoegaze record, pairing dense, reverb-soaked guitars with soft, dreamlike vocal harmonies. Nearly two decades on, its five tracks still sit at the core of the band’s live sets.

While new recordings have been slow to arrive — the follow-up EP Heaven Is a Place appeared in 2016 — the group have gradually increased their touring activity again in recent years. Their return to Manchester follows a growing run of international dates and festival appearances as shoegaze continues to see renewed interest among younger audiences.

With rumours circulating that new material could emerge in 2026, this show offers a chance to catch the band as they revisit the atmospheric sound that helped define a generation of underground shoegaze.
