Following a successful debut last year, Louder Than War Live returns to Manchester Academy in 2027 with bands performing across Academy 2, Academy 3 and Club Academy, alongside interviews and special events throughout the day.
Headlining this year’s festival are indie legends The Wedding Present, celebrating 35 years of their landmark 1991 album Seamonsters. Recorded with acclaimed producer Steve Albini, the album reached No. 13 in the UK charts and has since become one of the defining records of British indie music.
Formed in 1985 and led by David Gedge, The Wedding Present have remained one of the UK’s most influential independent bands, releasing 18 UK Top 40 singles and earning a reputation for their fast-paced, emotionally charged guitar sound.
Curated by Louder Than War editor John Robb, the festival showcases established names alongside emerging artists from across the alternative music spectrum. Following Sea Power’s headline set at the inaugural edition, the 2027 festival expands through a new partnership with Manchester Academy, promising a full day of live music across three stages. The remaining artists will be announced soon.
