Lorelle Meets The Obsolete play YES Basement in May as part of a UK tour supporting their seventh studio album, Corporal. The project was formed in Guadalajara, México in 2011 and is led by Lorena Quintanilla and Alberto González.
Across their releases, Lorelle Meets The Obsolete have developed a sound rooted in garage rock and psychedelia, gradually incorporating electronic elements, analogue synthesis and more experimental structures. Corporal continues this direction, foregrounding electronic noise alongside layered guitars and driving rhythms.
After early albums On Welfare and Corruptible Faces, the duo signed to UK label Sonic Cathedral in 2013 and have since released a series of records including Chambers, Balance, De Facto and Datura. They have toured widely across Mexico, the UK, Europe and the United States.
Live performances often expand beyond the core duo into a full band, translating the density of their recordings into a direct, immersive setting. The YES Basement show features material from Corporal alongside songs from across their catalogue, reflecting the band’s steady evolution over more than a decade of releases.
