Montreal/Tiohtià:ke art-punk collective La Sécurité bring their infectious blend of punk, new wave and krautrock to the delightfully compact stage of The Abbey this October.
Formed in 2022, the five-piece combine jumpy beats, off-kilter arrangements and minimal melodic hooks with a playful DIY approach to music, visuals and performance. Their songs are made for the dancefloor, while their lyrics celebrate independence, friendship and solidarity, drawing on the ethos of the Riot Grrrl movement.
Their debut album, Stay Safe!, was released in 2023, followed by the remix album Stay Safe! REMIXED in 2024. Since forming, La Sécurité have played festivals including The Great Escape, SXSW, Reeperbahn Festival and Sled Island, as well as sharing stages with Automatic and Death Valley Girls.
Expect catchy bilingual post-punk, improvised dancing and a live show that embraces movement, energy and a healthy disregard for genre boundaries.
