What do you get when you combine a secret marriage, a silken ladder, and a plot full of twists and turns?

Rossini’s one-act opera La scala di seta is a lively blend of humour and romance. The young and amorous Giulia is secretly wedded to her lover Dorvil. Unbeknownst to her guardian Dormont with whom she lives, she uses a silken ladder (‘La scala di seta’) to sneak her husband into her room.

But when Dormont makes it clear he intends to give Giulia’s hand to a wealthy gentleman named Blansac, Giulia must come up with a clever scheme to divert his affections.

A comedic story of seduction and would-be lovers, Rossini’s playful score brings all the brilliance and wit you’d expect from his signature style.

Get ready for an evening of musical merriment that promises to deliver unforgettable melodies and uproarious entertainment.
