Manchester Poetry Library hosts poet Jean Sprackland and special guest Karen Solie for the launch of Sprackland’s new non-fiction book Night Vision: In Search of the True Dark. The evening features conversation, readings, a drinks reception and the opportunity to purchase signed copies.

Night Vision explores humanity’s complex relationship with darkness—our fear of it, our efforts to banish it, and our longing for its mystery and beauty. In her search for a renewed connection with the dark, Sprackland confronts profound questions about identity, memory and our place in the world.

Karen Solie, acclaimed poet and former lecturer at Manchester Writing School, joins Sprackland for the event. Solie’s work includes The Caiplie Caves, shortlisted for the T.S. Eliot Prize, and Wellwater, shortlisted for the Forward Prize for Best Collection. Sprackland, author of Tilt, which won the 2007 Costa Poetry Award, and Strands, winner of the 2012 Portico Prize, continues to bridge poetry and prose with this latest release.
