Writer, curator, and co-director of Strange Attractor Press Jamie Sutcliffe has been commissioned to produce a text responding to themes within Castlefield Gallery’s exhibition Tale of the Frozen Bits. On the evening of the 10th of March, Jamie will be discussing his writing in conversation with El Morgan at Castlefield Gallery. Picking up on a reference to freezers, storage facilities and coldness, Jamie’s commissioned text shares his ongoing interest in artificial ‘cold zones’ related to internet hubs and data storage.

Jamie Sutcliffe explores artistic encounters with science fictive fabulation, the politics of gaming, animation and its multiple entanglements with developments in the life sciences, haunted media, the digital uncanny, and the persistence of myth, all understood as technologies of selfhood. His book Documents Of Contemporary Art: Magic is published by The Whitechapel Gallery and The MIT Press.

His essays, reviews, and interviews have been published by Art MonthlyFriezeThe White Review, RhizomeArt Review, The Quietus, Art AgendaEROS Journal, Bricks From The Kiln, and IsThisIt, amongst others, while catalogue essays and exhibition texts have been written for the New Museum, New York, the Austrian Cultural Forum, London, Primary, Nottingham, and Huddersfield Gallery alongside other venues.
