Originally from Maryland, USA and now based in Liverpool, Jalen Ngonda creates soul music that draws from the genre’s rich history while adding his own contemporary perspective. Combining elements of classic soul, rock ’n’ roll and jazz, his songs are built around carefully crafted arrangements, warm instrumentation and his distinctive falsetto vocals.
After the success of his debut album Come Around And Love Me, Jalen returns with Doctrine Of Love, a record that further develops his approach to modern soul. Featuring sweeping strings, rhythmic grooves, guitar-led arrangements and rich vocal harmonies, the album reflects his appreciation for the sounds and production techniques of soul’s golden eras while keeping the songwriting fresh.
