International Women's Day Manchester Festival event at Central Library

Celebrate International Women’s Day 2026 at a vibrant community event hosted by the Manchester City Council Public Health Team.

Co-designed by local women, this welcoming day brings people together to connect, learn, create and find inspiration. The programme celebrates women’s contributions while creating space for shared knowledge, support and community-building.

Visitors can take part in storytelling and spoken word sessions, music and poetry performances, children’s activities inspired by women who make a difference, and a keynote address. The day also features a fireside conversation with women leading and supporting their communities, an exhibition on women’s history in the city, and hands-on creative activities including bookmark-making, stitching and a practical sewing workshop focused on repair and upcycling. A relaxed menopause meet-up offers further space for open conversation and support.

Open to all, the event invites attendees to drop in throughout the day, meet their community, access advice and celebrate the theme: When Women Thrive, We All Rise.
