The RNCM invites you to visit it’s remarkable Collection of Historic Musical Instruments, featuring over 300 European and Non-European wind, string, percussion, and keyboard instruments. Highlights of the collection include violins by Stradivarius and Guarnerius, viols by Barak Norman and Collingwood, and a selection of 18th and early 19th-century wind instruments.

This collection is the result of the combined efforts of Dr. Henry Watson and Josiah Thomas Chapman, offering a unique insight into the evolution of musical craftsmanship. Visitors will also have the chance to view notable keyboards by Broadwood and other exceptional historical instruments.
The collection is located in the basement of the RNCM Library, accessible via the staircase behind the Box Office or by the lift opposite the Library. Access outside of scheduled tours is restricted, so don’t miss the chance to explore this rich musical heritage.

The museum is open between 12pm and 1pm.
