One of the most interesting new voices in alt-indie-country rock, Greg Freeman heads to YES at the end August with his live band, bringing together ragged guitar, vivid storytelling and songs that blur the line between heartland rock, alt-country and noise.
Freeman’s breakthrough album Burnover earned widespread acclaim for its charged songwriting, pairing driving indie rock with richly detailed tales of grief, belonging and the myths that shape America. His unfiltered performances have built a devoted following.
With his new album, All Set the Bone, arriving this October, this Pink Room date probably offers an early chance to hear brand new material alongside favourites from Burnover and his debut I Looked Out. Expect soaring guitars, razor-sharp lyrics and a set from a songwriter on the rise.
Fans of MJ Lenderman, Wednesday, Drive-By Truckers and early The Replacements won’t want to miss this one.
