Golomb bring their raw, tightly-wound live sound to The Abbey this summer.
Formed in 2019, the Ohio trio are built around a close-knit core of siblings Xenia (bass) and Hawken (drums), alongside guitarist and songwriter Mickey Shuman. That long-standing personal trust feeds directly into their music, giving their sound a direct, unforced chemistry that carries through both studio recordings and live performance.
Musically, Golomb move between punchy, fuzzed-out guitar rock and more expansive, off-kilter arrangements. Their sound pulls from a wide lineage of US underground rock—echoing the melodic bite of Guided By Voices, the dynamic tension of Pixies, and the heavier, more psychedelic edges of Spiritualized and Built To Spill. The result is music that shifts between controlled intensity and full-throttle release.
Their recordings capture a band leaning into contrast: sharp, driving rhythms sit alongside stretched-out, atmospheric passages, often dissolving into dense walls of guitar and feedback. That same energy defines their live shows, where structure and noise are held in constant balance.
Across a series of self-releases and their more recent full-length work, Golomb have refined a sound that feels both instinctive and deliberately unpolished—rooted in rock tradition, but constantly pushing at its edges.
