Fiddler On The Roof

Fiddler on the Roof, winner of three Olivier Awards including Best Musical Revival, arrives in Manchester for a limited two-week run.

This acclaimed production, originally staged at London’s Regent’s Park Open Air Theatre and the Playhouse Theatre, is directed by Jordan Fein (Oklahoma, Young Vic), choreographed by Julia Cheng (Cabaret), and designed by Tony Award-winner Tom Scutt (Cabaret, 2024).

Set in the rural village of Anatevka in 1905, the musical follows Tevye, a Jewish milkman trying to uphold his family’s traditional values in the face of change. As his five daughters challenge convention and the political climate shifts around them, Tevye is forced to confront the tension between tradition and progress.

Since its Broadway premiere in 1964, Fiddler on the Roof has been recognised as one of the most enduring and important works of musical theatre. With a book by Joseph Stein, music by Jerry Bock and lyrics by Sheldon Harnick, the show includes well-known songs such as If I Were a Rich Man, Tradition, Matchmaker and Sunrise, Sunset.

This Manchester run offers audiences a rare chance to experience a fresh, critically acclaimed revival of a musical that continues to resonate with themes of faith, identity and resilience.
