Festival Povera returns to Big Hands for three days of weird, wonderful and proudly independent art, culminating in the bar’s 25th birthday celebration on 26 September, alongside 30 years of The Temple.
This year’s loose theme is Nautical Nonsense, with a programme celebrating creativity without barriers and showcasing work made by local artists, filmmakers, musicians and performers.
The programme includes an open-submission art gallery, burlesque, comedy musical Wilf’s Tales of the High Sea, DJ sets, short film screenings, scenes from upcoming independent film Templeheads, live projection art and three nights of live music.
The musical line-up features JFK Hole, Thro II and The Los Manos Grandes Family Band, alongside DJs including Puget Sounds and DJ Sexgod.
Now in its fifth year, Festival Povera is all about celebrating and supporting creative work made by the people, for the people. Everything is free to access.
