Blackwell’s Manchester welcomes activist and author Dean Spade in conversation with Wu Tsang for a discussion on love, liberation and resistance.
Spade will speak about his latest book Love in a Fcked Up World: How to Build Relationships, Hook Up, and Raise Hell, Together*, which explores how values of justice and freedom can shape our most intimate relationships. The book challenges cultural myths around love and dating, urging us to see interpersonal actions as inseparable from the politics of liberation and resistance.
Dean Spade has spent more than two decades working for queer and trans liberation rooted in racial and economic justice. He is a professor at Seattle University School of Law and the author of Normal Life and Mutual Aid. Wu Tsang is a filmmaker and visual artist known for work exploring identity, race and queer communities through films and installations that blend documentary and fiction.
