Following the popularity of the first CyanLines walk, this second instalment invites participants to join the journey.

The route explores a corridor of blue, green and Nobel prizes around Oxford Road, where historic university buildings, museums and galleries sit alongside regenerated parkland. This walk brings together heroic architecture, canalside paths, generous green spaces, and layers of industrial, scientific, cultural and political significance.

The walk begins outside the Emmeline Pankhurst statue, Rise Up Women, before heading a short distance south past Bridgewater Hall and along the Rochdale Canal to Oxford Road. The route connects parks in and around the knoweldge quarter, explores key museums, and takes in both Manchester Metropolitan University and the University of Manchester.

Participants will then meander through not one but four beautiful parks—quiet counterpoints to the energy of nearby Oxford Road and Oxford Street—including the green oasis of Symphony Park, the student-friendly and recently revamped All Saints Park, and the reimagined Brunswick Park, once a road. The walk concludes at Whitworth Park, a much-loved family park and home to the Whitworth.

The guided tour ends here, but walkers are encouraged to explore the Whitworth’s extensive collections and enjoy refreshments in the glass café overlooking the park.

It’s an ideal way to spend a spring Sunday.

2:30 pm to 4:30 pm, St Peter’s Square to Whitworth Park – 2.89 miles
