San Diego art-punk outfit Crocodiles bring their raw, genre-blurring live show to The Abbey this summer.
Formed in 2008 by Brandon Welchez and Charles Rowell, the band emerged from the fallout of earlier punk projects and quickly built a reputation for loud, melodic noise-pop shaped by equal parts chaos and hooks. Their sound pulls from psych, krautrock, shoegaze and disco-punk, often drawing comparisons to The Jesus and Mary Chain, The Velvet Underground and Primal Scream.
Early releases like Summer of Hate and Sleep Forever established them on both sides of the Atlantic, earning critical attention and extensive touring across the US and Europe. Produced in part with James Ford (Arctic Monkeys, Klaxons), their work balances abrasive guitars with expansive, hypnotic textures.
Live, Crocodiles have evolved into a full-band unit known for intense, driving performances that lean into both their punk origins and their more expansive psychedelic side.
Expect a set that moves between jagged noise, kraut-inflected grooves and widescreen psych-rock—delivered by a band that has spent over a decade refining their edge.
