Sharing DNA: K-pop and Poetry / Cultural Welcome Week

Break the Silence poetry workshops offer a welcoming space for creative expression, reflection, and connection.

Held at Manchester Poetry Library, these sessions invite participants to explore themes to find their voice, resilience, and healing through poetry. Whether you’re new to writing or an experienced poet, you’ll be guided to craft words that speak your truth and challenge silence.

Workshops include writing prompts, group discussion, and optional sharing, fostering a supportive and inclusive environment. Led by MMU nursing lecturer and poet, Christopher Seymour, Break the Silence encourages participants to harness the power of poetry to express and make space for personal and collective stories to emerge.

Christopher Seymour is a performance poet and Lecturer in Adult Nursing, and a specialist in Palliative care. He has facilitated poetry workshops for FdSc, BSc and MSc pre-registration Nursing students and has innovated the use of creative methods in interdisciplinary training contexts with health professionals. He is currently involved in several collaborative research projects and has presented his work at conferences and in health settings. Recently collaborating with the Manchester Poetry Library, facilitating his ‘Break the Silence’ workshops. Aiming to increase well-being, encourage connection through creativity and celebrate one another.
