The pioneering club night returns to Contact for a special event on Saturday 8th October to celebrate 25 years of Black Angel, the birth of the Black and Asian LGBT+ club scene in Manchester and the first women-centred safe place for Black and Asian women to come together and be themselves.

Featuring DJs Claud Cunningham, Mix-Stress and Stacey Bee (Swagga) you don’t want to miss this celebration of a friendly, safe space and a truly diverse night for queer women, friends and allies.

Black Angel was a pioneering club night in the late 1990s founded by Claud Cunningham and Paula Gannon-Lewis. It started in Manchester before expanding into Leeds and London. Black Angel gave birth to the Black and Asian LGBTQ club scene in Manchester and, more importantly, provided the first women-centred safe place for Black and Asian women (and allies) to come together and be themselves.
