Fisayo Akinade

Actor and Contact Alumni Fisayo Akinade (Heartstopper, Cucumber) explores the many different elements that have influenced his life and career in a special event at Queer Contact.

Join Fisayo as he shares 50 things that shaped him in conversation with Contact Artistic Director and CEO Keisha Thompson, as part of Contact’s 50th-anniversary celebrations.

Fisayo is a past member of Contact Young Company and trained at Central School of Speech and Drama. Fisayo has had starring roles in Netflix’s Heartstopper and Channel 4’s Cucumber (as well as offshoots Banana and Tofu), and has made further TV appearances in Atlanta, Fresh Meat, and A Midsummer Night’s Dream. He has had a flourishing theatre career, including The Crucible, Romeo and Juliet, The Antipodes, Antony and Cleopatra and Barber Shop Chronicles at the National Theatre; The Glow, Pigs and Dogs and The Crossing Plays at the Royal Court; Shipwreck at the Almeida; The Way of the World, Saint Joan (Ian Charleson second prize) and The Vote at the Donmar; The Tempest at Shakespeare’s Globe; Barbarians at the Young Vic; As You Like It (Ian Charleson nomination) at the New Wolsey, Ipswich; Refugee Boy and Waiting for Godot at West Yorkshire Playhouse; and Neighbours at HighTide.
